Paint Shop

For brilliant impressions, at Volke we rely on our own in-house paint shop. With two paint centers and a drying room, from surface preparation, to the final finish, anything is possible.  Every part – whether components or the entire vehicle – is first covered with a layer of polyester spray putty in order to smooth out the last surface irregularities.  After drying, the piece is straked and sanded.  It then receives a two-component high solid filler which, after drying, is itself straked and sanded.

The vehicle is cleaned of grease using a silicon remover, and finally freed of the last particles with a dust-binding cloth.  It now receives its base coating – its color.  To protect the finish from fingerprints or impacts, the model receives three coats of clear lacquer.  To avoid surface irregularities in so many layers of lacquer, the surface is sanded after each one.  A final polishing removes any air or dust inclusions from the paint.
